Lag Shield Anchors
Lag Shield Anchors are a screw style fastener that is designed for use in lag bolts. This is usually utilized in concrete (lag shield concrete anchors) and other types of base material such as mortar joints of block or brick walls. This can also be used for other shallow attachments and as a masonry anchorage. However, this is not recommended for overhead fixtures/applications. Lag shields are designed for use in conjunction with lag screws, or sometimes referred to as "lag bolts."
Typically, lag shields come in two lengths – long and short. Long lag shield anchors may be used to develop better strength or holding values in softer base materials, while it's shorter counterpart is used in hard masonry to reduce drilling time. Additionally, a lag shield anchor is made of two preassembled parts. The inner portion is threaded to enable lag screw threads to be affixed. The outer portion, on the other hand, is ribbed from the bottom of the anchor to about three-quarters up the length of the body.
